Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
1. Nature of the service
Vakeel Street provides legal document drafting services relating to Indian courts and Indian administrative departments. This includes complaints, representations, applications, contracts, strategic briefs, applications under the Right to Information Act, and powers of attorney. These documents may or may not lead to court proceedings, or to the initiation of court proceedings, in India.
2. Document-based advice only
Every engagement is a brief for document-based advice only. I assess the papers and facts you provide and deliver a drafted document or a written review. I do not appear before any court or authority on your behalf, I do not sign documents on your behalf, and I do not dispatch or file documents on your behalf. You dispatch or file the document yourself, from your own address or email, or through a person authorised by you in India.
3. Local counsel
Depending on your matter, you may need to engage a local counsel in the jurisdiction where the property is situated or where the cause of action arises. A document drafted by Vakeel Street is prepared so that any competent advocate in India can act on it without further briefing; engaging that advocate, where required, is your responsibility.
4. No advocate–client litigation retainer
Use of this service does not create a litigation retainer or a court representation engagement. The relationship is limited to the drafting brief you commission. Confidentiality is maintained over all papers and facts you share, consistent with the professional obligations of an advocate.
5. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the documents and facts you provide. The drafted document relies on them. You are also responsible for meeting any limitation periods or deadlines applicable to your matter; engaging this service does not pause or extend any deadline.
6. Delivery and fees
Documents are delivered electronically, ordinarily within 48 hours of a complete brief. As an Advocate, I am not permitted under the rules of the Bar Council to advertise or publish fees; charges are therefore shared with you directly once you make an enquiry, and are payable in advance of the work. Where a matter falls outside the scope of document drafting, I will say so before any fee is taken, and any fee paid for work not undertaken is returned.
7. No guarantee of outcome
A precisely drafted document materially improves how a matter is received and acted upon, but no outcome before any court, authority, or counterparty is or can be guaranteed.
8. Governing scope
These terms describe a drafting service concerning Indian law matters, rendered remotely. Any dispute concerning the service itself shall first be addressed to me in writing at vakeelstreet@gmail.com; I respond — that is the entire point.
